The Most Anointed Word You Need to Know

You might be thinking, “Hallelujah”, or “Glory”. Those are great words, indeed, but the most anointed word is a practical word that needs to get down into the very fiber of your being – where it can radically alter the way you think and do things. This will be a bit of a faith-exersize as I share with you 3 ways to really see your life arise to a higher level. So get ready to be changed!

Psalm 27:6 And NOW shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. [kjv]

When all Hell seems like it’s about to break loose on your life, you’ve got to know the secret that David used when he too had his back up against the wall.

1. The Lord IS My Light. When David was faced with opposition, he refused to somehow think he was in the dark, or didn’t know what to do – no. David lived in the brightness, in the powerful glow of the presence of God in his present moment – “The Lord IS (not “was” or “will be”) my light!” Say this out loud: “Right NOW I’m not in the dark!”

2. I Simplify My Life. David wasn’t the schizophrenic leader like King Saul was. He wasn’t “loving God” at one moment and then getting angry with his family, staff or volunteers at another – no. David had just “one thing” on his agenda every morning – Seeking God. Say this out loud: “Right NOW I’m simplifying my life.”

3. I’m Not Waiting for Victory. In verse 6, David used a good, old-fashioned, faith-filled word: “NOW!” (See also: Heb. 11:1). Even before the battle took place, David took control of his spirit, mind, and emotions; and in effect said…

“I know my enemies are trying to move in on me, trying to make me fearful, overwhelmed with anxiety, and trying to cause me to cower in discouragement; but right NOW my head is going to be held high. In fact RIGHT NOW I look down on my enemies. I’m so charged-up with faith right NOW that I’m going to sing a song and whistle a tune in the presence of mine enemies, because I know on Whom I have believed!”

Say this out loud: “Right NOW I’m taking charge of my life.”

Don’t allow procrastination to rob you of your blessing! Make a concrete decision today that things are going to be different!

Prayer-2-Pray
“Lord, please forgive me for always wishing and hoping that things will get better. I want to begin to use my faith, and adopt this faith-filled word: “NOW”, and I choose to do it NOW! In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen!”

“Tell The World That!”

With 30 Youth, and in only 50 minutes – Over 7 souls came to Christ today at our “Tell The World That!” mini Outreach at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Mall!!

I shared a message on Evangelism today in Summer Surge, just before we left.

The 3 points were:

1. LEARN TO SEE PEOPLE THE WAY JESUS DID. Matt. 9:35-38

2. TAKE THE BATON! John 20:21-22

3. WALK WITH AUTHORITY! Matthew 28:16-20

What was funny is that (when I got to my 2nd point) one of the girls said she got hit on the head with a Baton just a couple weeks ago. And don’t you know that God’s people don’t respond well to being hit on the head to evangelize. Jesus said, “Feed my sheep”, not: “Beat my sheep”! But, (here’s the thing), if we’ll reach out & accept the baton from the strong hand of our Shepherd – as His eyes blaze with the fire of His love, we will gladly do whatsoever our King so desires of us. Why? Because the sharing of our faith will then be motivated by His Love; and we will see incredible results.

How To Hear The Voice of God

Here’s 3 practical steps in hearing the Voice of God that have helped me greatly, and may pave the way for you to begin to hear God’s voice.

With so many things going on today someone might say, “Is it even possible to hear the voice of God?” God is speaking today. The real question is, “Are you listening?” Today we are literally bombarded with radio, TV, computers, video games, screaming kids, and traffic ⎯⎯ just to name a few. Sometimes we feel like if we could just get away we would be able to get our head cleared and really become more spiritual. And you know what? You’re right. But most of us can’t take a 3 month vacation and be a monk on a mountain somewhere. But there is a way for us live-out our faith on a daily basis so that our relationship with God will benefit us.

1. Carve-Out Time in Your Schedule to Wait on God.
Think of what you find yourself saying so often, “I just don’t have time.” That’s why you need to set a priority on making time to spend with God. Go to bed an hour earlier, and set your alarm an hour earlier. Start there.

2. Go to a Quiet Place.
This is so important. As long as kids are screaming and phones are ringing you wont be able to hear the voice of God. Think of it, you’re wanting to hear the voice of the Eternal God! Don’t take it lightly. Position yourself.
Think of the times God spoke in the Bible. Moses was all by himself on a mountain. So, plan your time and then get to a place where you won’t be distracted.

3. Quite Your Heart to Listen
Make sure there is no unconfessed sin in your life. Ask God to speak to you. Whatever you hear, make sure that it doesn’t contradict God’s Word, for God will never contradict Himself. Write down what you are sensing Him saying to you. If you’re not sure about what you’re heard, find a mature believer or Pastor to check it. Because the Bible says that there are many voices that speak. This will give you confidence, and will add to your faith, that you are in fact hearing the voice of God.

Applying these 3 easy steps will get you on the road to hearing the voice of God. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know.

Underground Waters

In a day and age where fashion is more important that passion, and looks than books, there’s a call of the Spirit going out today for us to cultivate our inner-life. The Apostle Paul declared, “…though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” [2 Cor 4:16 NKJV]. Could you say that’s true about you? Sure, we’re all getting older, but can you honestly say you’re being renewed every single day? Is your inner life growing? Most of us would be hesitant to answer. But take a quick look at an obscure passage of Scripture that is loaded with truth that will transform your inner-man.

The waters made it grow; Underground waters gave it height, With their rivers running around the place where it was planted, And sent out rivulets to all the trees of the field. [Ezek 31:4 NKJV]

1. THE WATERS MADE IT GROW.
The Holy Spirit and the Word of God are the key ingredients to growing the inner-man. This is basic Christianity 101, where you come to Church, hear the Word taught, and sense the presence of God.

2. THE UNDERGROUND WATERS GAVE IT HEIGHT.
This is that Christian who’s not merely content just to go to Church once or twice a week, but has cultivated a daily one-on-one relationship that’s growing. This Disciple has a secret, personal, and private devotional-life and has the ability to tap-in and quench his/her thirst at anytime. Where is it? It’s “underground”. No one sees you seeking God, but you are, and you’re growing as a result it!

3. WITH THEIR RIVERS RUNNING AROUND THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS PLANTED.
We must bloom where we’re planted. A real river must “run”! It’s always moving, gushing, and touching the dry banks, and enabling them to be transformed. My personal “tree”, of who I am in the Spirit, must be watered – first and foremost by (not the Pastor, but by) me. “Underground waters” provide personal, spiritual nourishment in the place where I’ve been planted.

4. AND SENT OUT RIVULETS TO ALL THE TREES OF THE FIELD.
These underground waters are “running”. There’s no stagnation here. A growing believer is also one is takes their “underground relationship” with Jesus into the Church and serves the Lord. I’m amazed these days just how many Christians are simply attending Church, but are not building the Church with what God has equipped them with. Come on, and let your river run into that children’s ministry, that youth ministry, that worship team! “Let the river flow!”

Do you want to be great in the Kingdom of God? Do you truly want to do great things for God? Remember this: People can only “look up to you” as they see the height of your underground time with God.

Faithful Prison Thugs

I just got done watching Lockup. You know, that show where they go inside maximum security prisons. Call me strange, but those shows are just so interesting to me. There was a certain man in there who belonged to a gang. They asked him why he would commit such violent acts – even right there in prison, and he said, “I’m a good soldier”. As I sat there sitting with my “Christian Self” I thought, “how can this criminal have such faithfulness and loyalty to his gang, and yet for most “Christians”… we don’t understand these terms of allegience to God?”

And yet I get the feeling from most believers that they are yawning their way through life… “Jesus is Lord, I’m bored, and who on the Olympics scored?”

Do we have a “Burger King Christianity” where we have to have it our way, and that without our “Happy Meal” of nice ear-scratching on Sunday morning we’re going to pout and backslide from the Faith? What kind of fantasy world are we living in? Daniel of old was faithful, innocent, bold, and courageous. He turned the tide of an entire empire by the character he obtained in his prayer closet.

We could learn a lesson from Daniel and these rugged, milltant prisoners who are willing to lay their life on the line at any given time.

“Lord, help us.”

N.I.N.O.

Last nite I shared a message with my young people about N.I.N.O. Now, for those of you who aren’t up on the latest “Techy” terms it means, “No Input, No Output.” Basically it means that if the right data input isn’t typed-in, then you’re not going to get the right result. It’s like when you want to change your profile on MySpace… if you type in the wrong HTML what’s gonna happen? Exactly! A messed-up profile! Many of us get messed up results in life, not just because “the devil is after me!”, but because we haven’t taken the time to put the proper spiritual nutrients into our spirit-man. In fact Mr. Job knew all about this when he said,

“I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” Job 23:12 [NKJV]

In other words, God’s Word is what sustains us and gives us supernatural strength.

Now there’s another acronym that is along these same lines, and it goes like this… G.I.G.O. Heard of this one? “Garbage In, Garbage Out.” Just try eating a solid diet of Hershy’s candy bars for breakfast, lunch, and dinner… just for a week! [I know, I know… that’s gross.] But so many of us are pumping garbage into our mind and hearts non-stop 24/7, and we wonder why we get so irritable and feel like “Devil’s food” everyday?

Here’s a couple quick tips to get the right “stuff” into your system:

1. Go Get You a Strong Devotional-Life!
Living from crisis-to-crisis has to stop. Get back to spending quality time with the Lord each and everyday. There’s no short-cut to spiritual growth.

2. Invest in Some Good Q.T.A.’s!
Q.T.A.’s are, “Quiet-Time Accessories”. Get yourself a good Bible, maybe even buy a new Bible, start fresh! Buy some fluorescent pens and begin a new journey with God! Next, get yourself a Daily Bible Reading Plan. This will give your Quiet-Time some focus. You’ll know where you’re going to read each day and won’t be intimidated by the thickness of God’s Word. Then I would say, invest in a Spiritual Journal. It doesn’t have to be fancy, a spiral notebook works fine. This where you write down what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you. It’s also a great outlet for frustration. “Are you serious?” Just read the Psalms! That was King David’s Spiritual Journal! And then lastly make sure you invest some quality, un-hurried time in prayer to God. This is going to energize you more than a double-shot at Starbucks!

Just remember those acronyms: N.I.N.O., G.I.G.O., and Q.T.A.’s, and develop your spiritual-life!
