“Christian Astrology”

I’m in shock as to just how many Christians today are dabbling in Astrology, and how many of them post their horoscope on Facebook. “Well, you’re a Picees, and I’m a Virgo, hmm… what do the stars predict for me today?” Some may say they’re just having a little fun, and it’s no big deal, but what does the Bible have to say about Astrology? Listen to what God says, through the prophet Isaiah.

You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, And the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you From what shall come upon you. [Isaiah 47:13 NKJV]

Astrolgy is a major slap in the face of a loving God, who has revealed Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. Astrology is also a form of witchcraft, because it is seeking to know about furture events without God’s Word, the Holy Bible, or through prayer.

Don’t allow yourself to get sucked into the trap of taking some sort of a shortcut in finding the will of God for your life. Don’t dabble in witchcraft, because the enemy will use it to against you, and will laugh in your face. Rather listen to what God says, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you
great and mighty things, which you do not know.” [Jer. 33:3 NKJV]

If you’ve dabbled in Astrology, or Witchcraft, pray this prayer outloud:

“Dear Jesus, I now realize that Astrology is witchcraft, and I ask you now to forgive me. I renounce all occultic practices and behaviors, no matter how insignificant it seemed. Wash me now in the precious blood of Jesus, and give me a new hunger for Your Word and a desire to come to You in prayer, that I might know the will of God for my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Command Your Conduct!

Bob Dylan sang, “The times, they are ‘a changing” . Road rage, profanity on TV, people shouting at their co-workers, marriages imploding only after 6 months… we sure are living in different day. Whatever happened to knowing how to control your emotions?

“Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.” [Psalm 50:23 NKJV]

At times our conduct can be like an unchained dog – no one knows how we’re going to react (or attack), and sometimes we even bite! Proverbs 16:32 says, “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city”. [NKJV]. Our conduct is a reflection of our spirit man. For many people, their lives are spinning out of control – there’s no order. In fact it’s down right chaotic. We need to learn to “rule” our spirit, and “order” our conduct. No, you’re NOT going to lash-out in this situation!” Order that conduct of yours! Don’t let it off the leash.

Conduct, emotions, words, feelings, mannerisms, responses, e-mails, and conversations MUST be held at bay, and ought not to be left to a “whatever” mentality. We simply can’t afford to let our flesh run wild.

How can I control it? How can I command my conduct? “Praise glorifies Me.” Notice it didn’t say, “Silent grumpiness glorifies Me.” Isaiah 61:3 says that God will give you a “spirit of praise” in exchange for your “spirit of heaviness”. That’s not a bad deal, if you ask me. Do I really want to “see the salvation of God” – in me, on the job, in the car, in my family? Then I MUST command my conduct. Let’s get it in order and start to set some boundaries. Let’s get rid of the “spirit of heaviness”, and start praising God on a daily basis. Your days will take on a whole new excitement if you do.

Get Off The Criminal Road!

This week I was at the Illinois African-American Economic and Social Empowerment Summit in Springfield, IL with my Pastor. Now, as a ”white guy”, sure I felt a little out of place, but there was something that the representative of the Department of Corrections said about “Re-offenders” that really got me thinking. He said… “You gotta get ‘em off the criminal road!” It got me thinking about the parallels of the sinner who gives his heart to Christ, but that’s merely the beginning.

What is “The Criminal Road”? And how do you know you’re on that road? Sure, you repented of your sins, or asked God to forgive you of some sin you committed, but are you about to “re-offend”?

Matt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat.”

Here’s some of the warning signs that you may in fact be on The Criminal Road:

1. YOU HAVE A POLLUTED SOCIAL NETWORK.
I see this all the time with young people. Their close friends are using profanity on their MySpace page, they’re still trying to “be cool” at school and fit in at Church, It just doesn’t work. “Who you hang with is who you’ll HANG with!” The noose is ready, the executioner is wearing his black hood! Why? Because you’re friends are bent on sin. They eat it up like a hungry pig in a garbage dump. Your social network has got to change. “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” [1Cor. 15:33]

2. YOU HAVE STINKIN’ THINKIN’.
Sure Jesus is in your heart, but the Devil is still controlling your thoughts. If you’re thinking about dope, Hennessy, or getting down at the Club, where do you think you are? You’re not on the Highway of Holiness, you’re on the Criminal Road, and you’re about to re-offend and get locked-up! Isaiah 35:8 says, “And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein”.

3. YOU’VE GOT BOOGERS IN YOUR NOSE
Have you ever talked to someone and noticed they had a booger in their nose? They didn’t check themselves in the mirror beforehand. “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” [Matt. 7:3] Many times the person on The Criminal Road has got his nose in everybody’s business but his own. He’s lost his focus on getting his own live on track, and somehow validates himself by correcting others.

4. YOU HAVE DIRTY HABBITS
Habits are something that you do day-in and day-out. A habit can make you or break you depending on what kind of habits you have. Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No!” campaign didn’t work, because there was nothing to say “Yes” to! If you take away the Alcohol you’ve got to replace it by drinking the New Wine. If you take away the Marijuana or Crack pipe you’ve got to replace it with a passion for prayer and praise. You’ve got to exchange those dirty habits.

5. YOU’VE GOT BAD BREATH
I’m almost aghast at how many “Christians” these days use profanity or take the Lord’s Name in vain. “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Luke 6:45. Cuss on, my friend – you’re on the Criminal Road and the Holy Spirit is about incarcerate you if you don’t take a detour – quick!

6. YOU’VE GOT A SMELLY SCHEDULE
The person who’s on the Criminal Road is consistently lazy with fulfilling their priorities. They say things like, “Yeah, I’ve been busy lately”, “I just haven’t had time”, or “I know I should have but…” My Pastor once said, “Excuses are like buttholes – everyone’s got one.” I tell my young people, in regards to homework, etc. “Do the worst first.” We must set our priorities, and then everything else is secondary. The Criminal Road is filled with a smelly schedule. Get it cleaned-up and the fragrance of Christ [2 Cor. 2:14] will go before you!

Successful Daniel Fast

21 days of “non-pleasant food”, and seeking God were what the Doctor ordered for me, my leaders, and the UNITED YOUTH in Chicago. So proud of them all.

UNITED YOUTH CHICAGO

“Daniel, You’re My Brother…”

If you’re on the 21-Day Daniel Fast together with us I want to let you know that God is going move on your behalf. He sees that you are sacrificing yourself to draw closer to Him. Don’t lose heart or give up. Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus! [2 Tim. 2:1].

Don’t let “Daniel” be an enemy. God is using him to get all that flesh OUT of you. He’s turning on the fire to boil-away all the impurities in our lives. Don’t turn off the oven! Don’t put out the fire! Let God do what He wants to do, because at the end of these 21-Days, [if you endure till the end…] you’re going to be a totally different person! So, the next time you’re chompin’ down on that carrot say, “Daniel… you’re not my enemy, you’re my brother!”

Fasting Together With You!!

JOIN THE DANIEL FAST!

Feeling like a “spiritual-slacker”?

If you feel like you have been a “spiritual-slacker” lately then I’ve got just the thing that will revitalize your relationship with God!!

Starting this Friday we’re going on a 21-Day “DANIEL FAST”

JOIN THE 21-DAY FAST!!

A “Daniel Fast” is when you abstain from “Pleasant Food” [Daniel 10:3], and eat only fruit, vegetables, nuts, etc. [Just click on the link above and you’ll see a Bulletin at the bottom of the page with alot more info]. But someone once said…

“Drastic times require drastic measures.”

You don’t have to go the full 21 days. You can do a meal here and there, and perhaps the 2 week you can go a couple days. The point is to do something. “…deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus!”

You and I are living in a time where this world is literally collapsing around us, and if your heart isn’t strengthened, and if you aren’t as close to God as you think you are…. you won’t be able to make it. You say, “how absurd!?” Really? Jesus Christ, Himself – fully God, fully man went on a 40-Day Fast because He knew the severity of living in this sin-soaked world. If you & I don’t stand strong for Christ in the day-and-age that we’re living in we’re going to be swept off our feet with the ever-increasing tide of sin.

The time to stop it is now! It’s time for a change! Join our 21-Day Fast today!

Pastor Robb

Join us on a 21-Day “Daniel Fast”!

Starting Friday October 3 UNITED YOUTH is going on a 21-Day Fast. It’s based upon the Word of God [found in the Book of Daniel chapter 10:2-21]. The “Daniel Fast” consists mainly of fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and avoids “pleasant food” such as: meats, junk-food [or sweets of any kind], leavened bread, carbonated drinks, etc.

If you have MySpace you can join our group here: http://groups.myspace.com/unitedyouthfast

WHY ARE WE FASTING?

1. BECAUSE IT’S BIBLICAL. [Everone mightily used of God in the Bible Fasted, including Jesus.]

2. BECAUSE WE WANT TO BE DIFFERENT. [Moses was transformed during a 40-Day Fast, Daniel saw his prayers answered & demonic forces thwarted thru a 21-Day Fast, When Jesus got done Fasting He was tremendously empowered by the Holy Spirit.]

3. BECAUSE WE WANT TO SEE A GENERATION SAVED. [Just prior to any mighty move of God in History you always see 2 things: Prayer & Fasting. We’re hungry to see a move of God in Chicago amongst the Youth.]

4. BECAUSE UNITED YOUTH MINISTY MUST GO FORWARD! [Our Youth Ministry must continue to be build by the Spirit of God, and not man’s method’s or ideas. We believe this Ministry is God’s Work and must be conducted God’s way, and therefore we yield & humble ourselves just like the great men & women did back in the Bible.]

5. BECAUSE WE WANT TO SEE EVANGEL BLESSED! [As we Fast & pray we’re believing that God is going to rain-down His power & glory upon our Chuch, our Pastors, Rev. Ray & Adrienne Berryhill, and every single Leader & Member of Evangel World Outreach Center!

If you belong to another Church – it’s OK. Just keep your Youth, Pastor, and Church in prayer during the next 21 days.
