Start Stompin’

STOMPLESS SOLDIERS
There are far too many “stompless soldiers” in God’s army today. Instead of being believers who stomp on the enemy and get the victory, we have spiritual stragglers, who are barely even able to make it out of bed to pray. It’s time for God’s people to get their stomp back!

Start Stompin’
Instead of stomping on the land, we’re sipping the wine in our hands.
Instead of walking in the Spirit, we’re so quiet so no one can hear us.
Instead of being clean and sober, we’re carnal and hung-over.
Instead of fighting against the Devil and his minions, we’re concerned about his opinions?
Why don’t we stop all this silliness, and really get down to business?
It’s time we take His Word and preach it, until all have heard it.
Instead of using our “liberty” to sin, let’s use God’s power to really bring the lost in!

Joshua 1:2–3 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. [kjv]

AGGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY
The word, “Tread”= literally means: to march, to trample, or to stomp upon. This isn’t being light-footed, as if you’re walking on eggshells. No, this is deliberate, on purpose, I’m-letting-you-know-that-I’m-here, kind of walking.
I’m not sure why the Church has moved away from this kind of aggressive Christianity. Oh, wait… I remember now, we don’t want to “offend” the non-believers. We drink beer, sip wine, smoke, and cuss now. Not only that, but we take pictures of it all, and post them on our social networks for all to see. But while Christians flaunt their “Christian liberties”, and while others worry about being as nice and relevant as possible towards those outside the Church – the devil himself has walked right through the front door of the Church, set up his desk and coatrack, kicked his feet up with a Cuban cigar in his mouth, and a huge grin on his face. Why? Because his job is, “oh, so much easier” now. But my Bible says…

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.” Matthew 11:12

TIPPY-TOE BELIEVERS
I wish there were more stomping believers, and a whole lot less of “Tippy-toe Believers” in the world today. This sloppy spirituality is sending a mixed message to new Christians and heathen alike. “Uh, I thought Christians weren’t supposed to do those kinds of things anymore?” Today, we can’t stomp. In fact, we have lost our spiritual boots. We’re walking around in stinky, smelly socks – that are soiled in the mud of sin and spiritual apathy.

But listen to what God says, “I have already given it to you, but you’ve got to stomp on the land!”

It’s time to get moving in the Spirit!
It’s time to get our strength back!
It’s time to put on our boots!
It’s time to WIN, and not to lose!

Prayer-to-Pray:
“Lord, I need to get fired-up once again. May Your holy fire get hold of me once again. Help me to take my stand to today, and to really live the gospel. Revive me now, I pray. Holy Spirit, I receive Your power to start stompin’ today! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

How Do You See Yourself?

Tonite it seemed like I heard the Holy Spirit say, “If you would see yourself according to the Word of God, you would never be the same.” I thought how that so often I merely see myself according to the flesh. I mean really, we look at ourselves everyday in the mirror several times a day. There’s no escaping… you! But in the Word of God there is a completely different picture that is told of the believer. They’re forgiven, new, empowered, endowed with gifts, etc. We’re really different people according to the Word of God, and yet we live in a state of ignorance most of the time. One of my missionary heroes, David Hogan said in one of his messages,

“Do you realize who I am? I am a conduit of power to the people God sent me to!”

How do you see yourself? Has it helped you, or hindered you? It’s time for you to rise above the funk, and starting taking control of your emotions, and begin living the life that God gave you!

The Wheelchair Warrior

I think if we could literally see into the spiritual realm we’d actually be shocked by what we saw. Some Christians think they’re a “Hulk-of-a-Christian”, but in reality they’re nothing but a “Pee-Wee-Herman-Christian”.

And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” [Acts 19:15 NKJV]

My Pastor here in Chicago, Ray Berryhill, has a little saying, “Tell the truth – shame the Devil!” Because, as long as you’re faking it, you’ll never make it! Who are you? So many Christians today are like “Spiritual Quadriplegics”, and they don’t even know it. The Devil has you bound. He’s gently combing your hair as you sit in front of “the mirror of poor self image”. All you’ve got is a blank stare. Everyday he laughs and mocks at you as you drool through your “straw of procrastination”.

Who will be bold enough to get out of this “wheelchair”? You can’t be a warrior when the enemy has you bound! Listen and respond to the Master’s voice as He says to you today, “Rise and be Healed!!”

Faithful Prison Thugs

I just got done watching Lockup. You know, that show where they go inside maximum security prisons. Call me strange, but those shows are just so interesting to me. There was a certain man in there who belonged to a gang. They asked him why he would commit such violent acts – even right there in prison, and he said, “I’m a good soldier”. As I sat there sitting with my “Christian Self” I thought, “how can this criminal have such faithfulness and loyalty to his gang, and yet for most “Christians”… we don’t understand these terms of allegience to God?”

And yet I get the feeling from most believers that they are yawning their way through life… “Jesus is Lord, I’m bored, and who on the Olympics scored?”

Do we have a “Burger King Christianity” where we have to have it our way, and that without our “Happy Meal” of nice ear-scratching on Sunday morning we’re going to pout and backslide from the Faith? What kind of fantasy world are we living in? Daniel of old was faithful, innocent, bold, and courageous. He turned the tide of an entire empire by the character he obtained in his prayer closet.

We could learn a lesson from Daniel and these rugged, milltant prisoners who are willing to lay their life on the line at any given time.

“Lord, help us.”

Prepared for Battle

So many today are not prepared for spiritual battle. Worse yet, those who are suppossed to be used of God to set others on fire are wasting their life.

Daily Bible Reading: 1 Cor. 12-14

SCRIPTURE
“For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle?” 1 Cor. 14:8

OBSERVATION
Though in the context Paul is talking about speaking in tongues it is a very interesting analogy that he uses. Here’s the deal. We have been called to fight the good fight of faith [1 Tim. 6:12, 2 Tim. 4:7]. We are not only called to be ready and prepared for battle, but we are commanded to prepare others! “Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples!” [Isaiah 62:10]. Isaiah 58:1 declares, “Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet…” So, I am called to be ready and prepared for battle – fighting the good fight of faith as well as training others to do the same. My voice is actually to be like a trumpet. Think of that! Here’s the question. How clear is the sound coming forth from my mouth, and my life? How clean is that sound? Or is there any sound at all? A good way to gauge these questions is to ask myself, “are others around me desiring to fight the good fight of faith because of my life? If not, I need to see what kind of sound is coming forth from my life. Is it uncertain? If so, why? Is there insecurity? Is there sin? Does my trumpet need a little adjustment? Or do I just need to go back and learn to “play the trumpet” in the privacy of my own prayer closet?

APPLICATION
Before I preach to others I must first preach to myself. Before I prepare a message for people I need to prepare my heart before God. After I have does the necessary “heart maintenance” then (and only then) can the Holy Spirit begin to use my life for His glory. Once I have sincerely prepared my heart I had better use the trumpet of my life! There’s too many “silent witnesses” these days who sit around on Church chairs doing a whole lot of nothing. The Apostle Paul said with heart-wrenching tears… “woe is me if I do not preach the gospel.” [1 Cor. 9:16]. Wrench-out your heart here, or wrench it out on Judgment Day, but we must awaken ourselves to the signs of the times and rise up like never before to declare this glorious good news of the gospel of our precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It’s all or nothing. Are you ready to start preparing for battle?

PRAYER
“Lord, I feel a sense of urgency. Too long I have been sitting around polishing the trumpet, but not blowing the trumpet. I’ve been “blowing it” in the flesh, but haven’t yet understood just how crucial my role is in your Kingdom. Help me today to be re-awakened to be prepared for the battle – to fight the good fight of faith. Today I take hold of Eternal Life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Gearing-UP for Greatness!

There are specific times, ordained by God to be “received up”, to go up higher, to go to another level. Jesus, knowing this about Himself didn’t just sit around waiting for something to happen.

Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem. Luke 9:51

He shifted in the next gear. It wasn’t a “slow-gear”, it was a “stead-FAST-gear”. What I mean by that is that this gear is GOING FAST, but in a steady way. See, many today can “go fast” for about a “spiritual minute”, but then quickly run out of gas. Jesus was gearing-up for something great. He was shifting up, because He was going up! He knew it.

What are you gearing-up for? Anything great? Anything? Are you believing, like Jesus, that it will come to pass for you? The time will come! So, why not think about gearing-up for something great NOW?! But you say, “will it be hard?”

“And they did not receive Him, because His face was as though He would go to Jerusalem.” Vs. 53

When you begin “gearing-UP” you can be sure that certain people will not be excited about it. But that’s alright, because you are going up higher! Many times the enemy of our souls catches a glimpse of where God is taking us and tries to stop us dead in our tracks. But the very fact that you are experiencing opposition is the proof that you are gearing-up for something great! You, like Jesus, are putting on your “game face” because you’re serious this time. You can always tell a good athlete on the court or on the field. You can see it in their face. They’re different from the rest, and they know it too. What do they know? They know they’re gearing-up for greatness!
