Mature AND Militant

Are you at least 20 years old? Are you willing to be used by God? Well, if you’ve answered “yes” to any of these questions then this message is for you!

Daily Bible reading: Heb. 11-13, Num. 1-10, Ps. 28-35

SCRIPTURE

Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war. Num 1:26

OBSERVATION
This is the first numbering that God spoke to Moses to number the people. But this numbering isn’t “everybody”, but only those who were 20 years and older. There is also an interesting prerequisite to who was to be included in this count. They had to be able to go forth to war. I wonder how many Christians these days couldn’t be counted on by God. The Lord is basically saying, “I need people who are mature and militant!” Today, in the Church, we have those who are immature and act like mice!

Jesus said of His Church, “…the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it!”

APPLICATION
Who will step up and be counted? Who will throw off their selfish immaturity and begin to get real with God? Can God really count on Christians today? I believe that, as a foundation, we must be committed to spiritual growth. A person can be a “Church go-er” for 20 years, but if they don’t know how to stand up against the whiles of Satan, what good are they to the Kingdom of God? We must have strong men and women who are mature and militant. If we’re not there yet, we must direct our attention to these two key areas if we are going to make a difference in our generation.

PRAYER
“Holy Spirit, it’s my prayer this morning that there would such a strong desire in me to be mature and militant. In a day and age when truth is fallen in the streets – I long to be a restorer of the breach and to proclaim the Gospel with boldness and clarity. Today, be the strength of my life, in Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
