Devotional: “Passwords of Praise”

padlock4.jpgWe deal with passwords all the time. E-mail, myspace, on-line bank accounts, etc., they all require passwords. When the password is correct – you’re in! I don’t think so much that God is intentionally trying to keep people out as much as He’s seeking to genuinely come to Him. In a word, Sincerity. Look at this password passage…

Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise, who shout on parade in the bright presence of God. Delighted, they dance all day long; they know who you are, what you do—they can’t keep it quiet!

[Psalm 89:15-16 MSG]

A couple things stick out to here: Firstly, it’s the way The Message Bible put it the password of praise.

But I wonder if I’ve lost my password? If I find it will I use it more often? Then the other thing that sticks out is that because they’ve gone into God presence they’re delighted, and not only that, but they dance all day long. So much for depression and complaining. Where did it go? Obviously something happened during praise. A switch was “flipped” in the spirtitual-realm. And then lastly: they know who you are, what you do—they can’t keep it quiet! Do I really understand WHO I AM?

WHO AM I?
1. I’m a child of God
2. I’m filled with the Holy Spirit
3. I’m an heir of Salvation
4. I’m an instrument of righteousness
5. I’m a conduit of a love, power, and miracles to those around me

WHAT DOES GOD DO?
1. He makes sinners into sons and daughters
2. He continually pours out His Spirit everyday and every night
3. He isn’t stingy with His inheritance, both now, and in eternity
4. He sharpen me daily so that I can be an effective instrument
5. He cleanses me daily and encourages me to live outside my comfort-zone to be a blessing to those around me.

“Lord, there’s something about worship and praising You that I really want to tap-into. I want to experience the amazing freedom that comes from being in your presence everyday and every moment. I want to dance all-day long and have a spirit of victory that is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. Open my eyes so I can see who I really am in You. Help me to be fully awake to what you do – not just for others, but what you do for me, because in that I will have more love and power to bless those around me – for Your glory, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
